HTYC Students and iGEM HongKong-JSS Team Interviewed on RTHK's "Under the Sun"
11-01-2026Last October, HTYC joined forces with four other secondary schools—Yan Oi Tong Tin Ka Ping Secondary School, Po Leung Kuk Celine Ho Yam Tong College, Pentecostal School, and Madam Lau Kam Lung Secondary School of MFBM—to form the joint-school team "HongKong-JSS" to participate in the iGEM competition in Paris, France.
By combining synthetic biology with AI detection, the team developed "Remedix," a low-cost, high-efficiency device designed to detect and degrade specific water-borne pharmaceutical pollutants, safeguarding public health and environmental safety. The team not only secured a Gold Medal for the third consecutive year but was also nominated once again for the "Best Hardware" award in the High School Division.
Recently, HTYC teachers and students from the team were invited for an interview on the RTHK Radio 1 programme "Under the Sun." They shared their design concepts, research process, and insights gained from the international competition. The interview aired on Sunday, January 11, 2026, from 5:30 PM to 6:00 PM. 去年10月底，丘中聯同另外四間中學：仁愛堂田家炳中學 、保良局何蔭棠中學 、五旬節中學及妙法寺劉金龍中學組成 HongKong-JSS 香港中學聯隊，遠赴法國巴黎參加國際遺傳工程機器設計競賽(iGEM)。團隊透過結合合成生物技術與AI偵察，開發出低成本、高效能的「智能淨水系統Remedix」，用於檢測及降解這兩種在水中的藥物污染，從而保障公眾健康及環境安全。團隊不僅連續三年榮獲比賽金獎，更被再次獲提名中學組「全球最佳硬件設計」，成績斐然。
早前，丘中參與同學和聯隊獲香港電台第一台節目《太陽底下新鮮事》邀請接受訪問，分享作品設計理念及研究過程，亦分享參加國際性比賽的所見所聞和心得。節目已於2026年1月11日(星期日)下午5:30至6:00於香港電台第一台播出。聽眾可於以下節目網頁重溫內容：
